Full-grain leather is the top layer of the hide with its natural surface left intact, so each wallet has slightly different grain and will darken and soften with use; tan shows this change the most, black the least. \nEngraving is burned into the leather with a laser, which leaves a darker, slightly recessed mark that does not rub off. Short text works best: initials, a name, a date, or a line of up to about 30 characters depending on the wallet. Script and block fonts are available; the product page shows a preview of each.
